She has nonetheless grown into a fine and confident woman who splits her time between a casino on Aurora Avenue and a bowling alley in Ballard. She completed her B.A. in English from the University of Washington in 2005 after a 13-year detour in L.A., where she worked as a writers’ assistant on several game shows and such sitcoms as “Malcolm and Eddie” and “3rd Rock from the Sun.” She also wrote humor essays for the Los Angeles Times.
